Constitutive Workshop, 19-20 September
Following the invitation of the Catalan Government and the German Commission for UNESCO over 20 selected young experts from all over Europe met on 19th and 20th September 2008 at the Office of the European Parliament and the Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona for a constitutive workshop of the U40 Network “Cultural Diversity 2030″.
Based on the results of three working groups on relevant aspects of the Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Diversity of Cultural Expressions and Sustainable Development, Implementation of the Convention through and within the European Community, Public awareness raising: Communication strategies for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions), the participants of the workshop in Barcelona defined a concept for future activities of the U40-group and developed new strategies for information exchange.
The Barcelona Workshop prepared the U40 World Forum which took place in June 2009 on the occasion of the Second Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
The constitutive workshop was organised by the German Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Interarts Foundation and with the support of the Office of the European Parliament and the Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona.
