U40 Network meets in Berlin

© U40 NetworkFive years after our first global U40 meeting in Paris in June 2009, 30 members of the international U40 Network gathered in Berlin for a strategic network meeting. It took place from 12to 15 September 2014 – just after the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR).

Benefitting of this synergy, the U40 Meeting in Berlin aimed at an open and critical evaluation of our work as an international network of cultural cooperation. As a result, a strategy for the future of the network including a realistic, feasible action plan in accordance with the available resources was developed.

Expected Outcomes

Strengthened network through

  • an strategic approach for future work incl. an action plan and at least one concrete project to be implemented in 2015
  • re-energised network
  • improved communication tools and visibility within the network and of the network activities
  • applied self-organisation

Middle- and long term Impact

U40 is an active civil society player among the stakeholders of the 2005 UNESCO Convention and provides impetus for its implementation. The network itself represents a concrete step of filling the Convention with life through building capacities among young experts and targeted and inspiring activities.

The workshop was organised by the German Commission for UNESCO.
